About us

WHO WE ARE:

Ecuador Mining News (www.ecuadorminingnews.com) is a bilingual English-Spanish online policy publication for international investors with Ecuador holdings.  EMN reports on the country’s political environment, legal and regulatory framework, M&As and its metallic mineral wealth, .  EMN also features exclusive interviews with policymakers, mining executives, news features, analysis and editorials.  EMN also publishes a free monthly newsletter.

MISSION:

Ecuador Mining News has launched last August 2007 an independent policy news website to kick off a rational debate over large-scale mining investment in this Andean nation, where the need for development has been overshadowed by anti-development NGO activity.  EMN provides shareholders and the public in general with an array of news, information, analysis, commentary and discussion forums concerning large-scale mining companies operating in Ecuador.

From the time of their IPO, and throughout the exploration and EIS phases, mining companies have come under fire from internationally financed green NGOs.  These groups are vocal in their opposition and have frustrated mining activity through lobbying efforts, demonstrations and the spread of disinformation.  In response, the editorial viewpoint of EMN will set the record straight and continuously convey the irony of NGO opposition to economic development in Ecuador, a country where poverty persists.
